This course is an instructional and coaching course designed for those who have some basic in trekking and would like to learn and deepen their skills on alpine trekking—snow and ice faces, rock and mixed ground and to prepare themselves for high altitude climbing. Safety is everyone first priority. Thus, each climber must equip themselves with skills and knowledge to ensure they are climbing on best safety standard practice.

Upon completion of the programme, each participant should be qualified as a technically competent rope team member, capable of making alpine mountaineering ascents on routes of intermediate difficulty. Each participant will be provided with certificate to indicate the certified alpine climber. Climbers are encouraged to take refreshment course in every two years and fulfil minimum hours of climbing to maintain the certificates

Day 1

(PCP Putrajaya)

Registration at Putrajaya Challenge Park

First session start with Introduction to Alpine Climbing, understanding different mountain terrain, equipment & clothing, mountain sickness and all climbing terminology.

Second session; rope management, knots, belaying and climbing on top belay, learn how to set up anchor on rock, and repelling

Day 2

(PCP Putrajaya)

First session; leading a climb, multi pitch system, top belay, SRT & DRT System.

Second session; Lead climbing, rope fixing on snow, jumaring and short roping. Third session; General knowledge on weather analysis, navigation, route finding & avalanche danger

Day 3

(Batu Caves)

Today we will climb on rock at Damai Extreme Park Batu Caves. We will practice all the lesson on knots, rope management, climbing on top belay, leading a climb, anchoring on rock, multi pitch system & top belay

a) Itinerary for training at Taiwan

Day 1 Meet at Taipei Main Station, Taipei Taiwan (we will arrange airport transfer). Check in to backpackers hostel and you have time for last minute equipment shopping. Sightseeing at Taipei on own arrangement. Equipment checks to ensure all gear suitable for the training
Day 2 Depart to Mount Xueshan trailhead. Trekking to Qika Cabin. First session: Learning how to fix crampon, basic cramponing techniques, learning how to use ice axe
Day 3 Trekking to Sanliujiu Cabin
Day 4 Trekking to Glacier Cirque. Practice on cramponing techniques, self-arrest, Snow anchor, ascending on snow slopes, rope fixing & jumaring, short roping, crevasse rescue, trekking to main peak of Mount Xueshan 3886m and back to Sanliujiu Cabin
Day 5 Sanliujiu Cabin back to Trailhead and return to Taipei
Day 6 Sightseeing at Taipei. Certificate presentation. End of training

b) 6 Days Training in Iran

Day 1 Meet at Imam Khoemeini International Airport, Iran. Sightseeing at Tehran. Check in Hotel
Day 2 Transfer to Shirpala and trekking. Practice on cramponing techniques, self-arrest, Snow anchor, ascending on snow slopes, rope fixing & jumaring, short roping, crevasse rescue. Trekking to peak Tochal 2700m. Camping on snow
Day 3 Short roping practice. Descending in steep snow. Optional ski learning (own cost)
Day 4 Optional ski learning & ice climbing*
Day 5 Optional learning ice climbing & sight seeing
Day 6 Back to Tehran. Certificate presentation. End of training

  2. A non-refundable deposit of RM1000 is required to confirm booking.

Balance payment is due 30 days before the departure date.

  1. Cancellation by client:
  2. 30-59 days before the departure date – loss of 30% of total trip cost.
  3. 14-29 days before the departure date – loss of 60% of total trip cost.
  4. Less than 14 days before the departure date – loss of 100% of total trip cost.

 

Cancellation by Zeroto8000:

  1. A trip may be cancelled as a result of an event of Force Majeure, ie. events which are unforeseeable and beyond Zeroto8000 control including but not limited to war, riot, industrial dispute, terrorist activity, natural disaster, fire, epidemics or health risks, closed or congested airports, ports or stations, changes imposed by re-scheduling or cancellation of transport, adverse weather conditions, avalanche, storm, flood, typhoon, hurricane and technical failure with any form of transport or facility.
  2. If a trip is cancelled as a result of Force Majeure, you will receive refund after deducting cancellation charges of the hotels and other providers.
  3. If a trip is cancelled, you may choose to receive refund as outlined above or transfer to another trip.
  4. Prices are subject to change without prior notice due to changes in airfare, currency exchange rates and other costs.
  5. If the group size falls below the minimum number and becomes unviable economically, Zeroto8000 will cancel the trip. You will receive refund after deducting cancellation charges of the carrying airlines, hotels and other providers.

If flights booked by Zeroto8000, you will be subject to the conditions of the carrying airline which, in most cases, limit the airline’s liability to the passenger in accordance with international law and conventions. Grading and fitness requirement

Trek grading: Hiking or scrambling using established hiking routes that may include moderate steep rock scrambles or scree. Good to have trekking experience.

 

Fitness: Good fitness is essential. You should be able to hike for up to a week without undue difficulty, carrying a backpack weighing between 10-15kg in undulating mountain terrain with an elevation between 1000 – 3000 meter.
